Sporting Triumph Car at the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals

One of our American MG & Triumph Customers sent us some pictures from the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals earlier this month.

We are all used to seeing various hybrids of so called ‘Big Foots’ but at the David Manners Group, we  have never seen a Triumph car sported as such. Classic MG & Triumph Cars have always been embraced in the US and there is still a huge interest in them today. And if this wasn’t the case, we may never have seen this conversion as it is highly unlikely us Brits would turn up to a Triumph Car show with one of these, let’s face it (feel free to prove us wrong ;).

We may have inadvertently assisted with some parts for this Triumph. We are currently trying to find out.

E-Type Jaguar & Aston Martin DB-5 Arrive at the David Manners Group

In the past week, our customers have been kind enough to send us thank you letters posted with the New Classic Car Stamps that were released earlier this summer.

It was particularly fitting that one of our Jaguar E-Type Customers addressed his with an E-Type Stamp (we think he bought the West Midlands’ Post Office Allocation  – sshh).

The second letter we have received is a 1963 Aston Martin DB5 – The Classic James Bond Car.
We do sell parts for this car but in my time here, I have never seen one on our car park. If you have one of the new Classic Stamps, why not send us a letter and get featured here. Or better still, if you do have an Aston Martin DB5, bring that along instead 🙂
If you are lucky enough to own an Aston Martin DB5, check out our David Manners Group Selection of parts here.

Keep up to date with our Stamp Collection search on our Facebook site

1966 MK1 MGB GT Bargain Find

1966 MK1 MGB GT Bargain Find
1966 MK1 MGB GT Bargain Find

One of our regular customers brought along his latest find, a green MGB GT to our shop at the David Manners Group this week to show us the progress of his restoration project. A few weeks ago, the owner who already owns a selection of restored classics came across this MGB GT with near perfect body work but with question marks over the engine.

Our customer was able to spend time giving the car a once over before deciding it was worth the investment. It does help to be mechanically minded and astute in these situations!

Once the newly acquired MGB GT was in his garage, the decision to make the purchase was proved correct as the majority of work that needed doing was mainly based around the car sitting idle for some time.

In addition, a few accessories and new seat trims were added both from our shop and ebay store and it already feels like we were in a time warp. We were particularly impressed with the original wheels. We have many MGB GT cars on our car park but rarely see original wheels that finish off the car.

We hope to keep you informed of his other restoration projects in the near future. Thanks for the pictures.

North Yorkshire Triumph Car Weekend

Earlier this year, the David Manners Group once again proudly sponsored the annual North Yorkshire Triumph Car Weekend. Despite the weather, the event now in its 28th year has seen a steady increase in numbers and support over recent times and this year has been no different.

Most if not all Triumph Car Models were represented, as can be seen by visiting the North Yorkshire Triumph Weekend Facebook Group here, if you are a Triumph enthusiast then it’s well worth taking a look at their pictures of the show.

Amongst the Triumph Cars in attendance were some rather nice examples of the Triumph Dolomite, Triumph GT6, Triumph Herald, Triumph Spitfire & Triumph TR2-Triumph TR7 models.

We look forward to sponsoring the Triumph Weekend once again next year.

Jaguar XF becomes David Manners Group Pin Up

We are seeing a lot of Jaguar XF cars at the David Manners Group this year. As we usually showcase the older Models of Jaguar, we have now decided to focus on some of the later Models that attract particular interest in the street. This Silver Jaguar XF looked delightful after a rainy morning in Birmingham with the light hitting the water marks on its silver curves.

The much obliging owner let us take a few pictures whilst he was waiting for his XF Parts to be picked, and even agreed to let us use his car to be the Pin up girl on our Jaguar XF Price list cover! Thank you very much.

Jaguar E-Type Polish Restoration Project

The David Manners Group attended the Krakow Moto Show in Poland last weekend, one of the biggest Classic Car shows in the Calendar. It was an opportunity to catch up with some of our customers and the projects they had been working on.

One customer in particular was keen to show us the before and after shots of his E-Type Jaguar. Completely restored from David Manners Group Parts, (with some interior exceptions that were custom made), we are extremely proud of the progress made.

It is near completion, but his second E-Type project is just about to start in Germany. We are very much involved in that restoration too so we will be providing updates and photos in the near future. You can visit our Pinterest account here to see other E-Type Jaguar projects have progressed.

MGB Barn Find: Racing Car Mystery

A few weeks ago, one of our regular MG customers purchased a rather fine looking blue coloured livery MGB Car that had been residing in a barn for the last few years. Aesthetically, it seemed in good condition, and a quick check over the finer details of the car convinced him to part with his money.

The MGB was bought as a project for his son who duly sold his own modern car with the sole aim of using this as his regular drive.

However there are 2 mysteries’ surrounding this MGB. Less important of course is how a family of field mice managed to make the rear part of the car their home until it was safely delivered to his homestead. But the livery asks the obvious question here: Was this previously used in some sort of Racing. The previous owner was unable to ‘shed’ any light on its history, so the owner is considering asking the MG enthusiasts club to see if they can help.

There are few things that needed doing immediately such as general servicing parts, but this trip to the David Manners Group was more about getting a New MG Steering wheel to look the part.

1956 MGA: One of the first 2000 ever built

You may not have seen one of these cars outside a show or in a brochure before, but over 100,000 were built. So when one of our MGA Customers pulled up to buy some parts this week, we had to take a closer look. The numbers of MGA cars on the road have decreased over recent years (less than 2000 according to howmanyleft.com) so the common assumption would be the cars would all be kept in pristine show condition.

But as the owner explained to me, he uses this MGA as his regular car every day. The mileage is high and it has not been cleaned for a week or two (still looks good to us). Infact the owner of this delightful MGA even offered to take it to a car wash before we took some pics. We declined as it’s so refreshing to see an old classic being used as a car should be.

It is in great condition having been built in 1956, and keeps up with motorway traffic well. The owner informed us very casually that out of the 100,000 or so built, this was around number 2000 on the production line. Quite a boast.

If you have an MG Car, visit our website next time you need any parts. We are proud to keep Modern and Classic MG’s on the road.
