Immaculate show stopping Triumph TR6

Back in June, we showcased a Triumph Herald at the David Manners Group. It was a great run-a-round and in good roadworthy condition and we were delighted to see it here in the 2 weeks we had for summer. Ironically on the same day, this immaculate Triumph TR6 came to see us. Maybe it’s something to do with good weather.

Our professional photographer was at hand to capture this Triumph TR6 in its pristine glory and the photos were then archived until they re-surfaced this week (we withhold the right to deny we lost them)!

The Triumph TR6 was produced from 1969-1976 and followed the tradition of earlier TR model shapes (only eclipsed by the radical design of the Triumph TR7 that followed). The Triumph Stag is still a personal favourite of ours, but the TR6 in this condition certainly changed a few people’s minds on the day.

From profiling our customers, we know that we have a lot of TR6 owners many of which are mail order web customers. So when we get a local TR6 owner that travels to see us, we will be sure to bring them to you again.

Austin A7 turns heads at the David Manners Group

You may or may not be familiar with the Austin A7, but you could easily identify it with a bygone age. At an estimate, you may say 1920’s/1930’s. Well, you would be right. Infact this delightful Austin A7 is from circa 1934. Produced from around 1922 – 1939, the A7 was probably the most popular car produced in the UK and only halted by the outbreak of WW2.

You may not see many outside of Museums and classic car shows, but if you are a resident of Oldbury in Birmingham, you would no doubt come across this Austin A7 at the traffic lights or roundabouts or a nearby supermarket.

The owner is a David Manners Group regular. We supply him Austin A7 parts to keep him on the road in all seasons and as the winter is fast approaching, our cautious customer was simply stocking up. And he has good reason too. This is his regular drive and uses it daily in most conditions.

We have had opportunities to photograph this A7 before, but the weather has not been in our favour. It was David Manners himself who spotted him driving down the road to our premises this week at around 40MPH. Looking at the tyres, you wouldn’t think these speeds were possible. Well, not only is it possible, it was cruising at this speed.

The David Manners Group – Highly Commended Family Business of the Year 2013

On the 14th November 2013, the Family Business Awards Ceremony was held at Birmingham University’s Great Hall. The venue was suitably chosen for the prestigious and now renowned awards appropriately offering an impressive backdrop for the event.

The evening opened up with a wine and horderves meet and greet reception that gently allowed everyone to relax nicely into the evening whilst offering a suitable opportunity to meet fellow contenders.

At 7:30, the double doors to the Great Hall were opened leaving the entire contents of the reception area in awe of its size and decoration. The Wilson organisation who organise the Awards had clearly worked hard to create a befitting arena that would impress all that entered.

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere generated by the historic hall and the final Family Businesses made one aware how significant this award has become over the last few years.

The David Manners Group made it to the final 6 companies for the prestigious category of Family Business of the Year but would have to wait until the end of the night to learn our fate. This is the award everyone wants to win and the competition gets more impressive each year making the award even more distinguished.

The build up to the category included a short film of the David Manners Group projected on the big screens showing all areas of the business.

And then it was announced….

The David Manners Group won the award of ‘Highly Commended’ Family Business 2013. We all approached the stage area with pride to collect our award and reflect on the collective achievements of everyone who got us there.

We would like to thank everyone on the night for making it so special, and also congratulations to every Family Business who attended.

As we mentioned before, the David Manners Group have made the final 6 entrants for the main category of Family Business of the Year. Last year, we succeeded in winning the Service Excellence Award which spearheaded our application for the prestigious category in 2013.

We are amongst 6 excellent finalists and whoever wins, it will be a fantastic achievement and accolade. All we can ask is that you wish us luck for the final tonight and we will let you know how we get on.

2006 Jaguar XKR at the David Manners Group

The Jaguar XKR is quite an unassuming car until you come face to face with it. This Jaguar XKR was only in need of some hard to find interior parts to match its colourway, and luckily for our customer the David Manners Group had what was required available in stock.

Our customer informed us this is a fairly new purchase, and one he has been after for quite some time. This Jaguar XKR from 2006 really is immaculate with very low mileage and at a reasonable price, the purchase was never in question.

Red ‘Ogle’ Car 5/60 off the Production Line

You may be forgiven for asking what car this is. Infact, it had a few of us at the David Manners Group a trifle stumped until we were shamed by our more experienced Jaguar experts.

The brand is called ‘Ogle’ and I think I am correct at saying this particular model is the SX1000 where around 60-65 were manufactured. The owner informed me that this delightful example was number 5 off the production line.

The SX250 which followed this car was fundamentally an updated version of the Daimler Dart that was originally built in ’62. The car was rejected by Daimler so Reliant took on the project. So you can see, there is a link between David Manners Group Daimler Parts and this very unique Ogle SX1000. The owner went on to tell me that whilst this may be the first time he has bought his car to our shop, he has been purchasing interchangeable Daimler Parts from us for some time.
It certainly is one for our scrap book, so many thanks for letting us take these pictures.

If you have any information on the Ogle that we may have missed or incorrectly mentioned, please feel free to let us know.
