David Manners Group helps to sponsor Ben Nevis Climb for Charity

David Manners Group helped to sponsor a charitable climb of Ben Nevis in honour of local Black Country hero Bert Bissell.

Dudley MP Ian Austin led the climb which raised £2,500 for local charities including Action Heart, Guide Dogs, the Children’s Unit at Russell’s Hall Hospital and Black Country Fast Aid.

Bert Bissell, born 1902, was a mountain climber and peace campaigner who climbed Ben Nevis on the day that Japan surrendered in World War II in 1945. He repeated the expedition annually after that, a tradition he continued for an incredible 50 years, right until he was 91.

Ian Austin MP, said:

“I’m really grateful to everyone who has made a donation, I know this will make a big difference to local charities”.Ian Austin local charities Ben Nevis summit
