David Manners Group helps to sponsor Ben Nevis Climb for Charity

David Manners Group helped to sponsor a charitable climb of Ben Nevis in honour of local Black Country hero Bert Bissell.

Dudley MP Ian Austin led the climb which raised ยฃ2,500 for local charities including Action Heart, Guide Dogs, the Childrenโ€™s Unit at Russellโ€™s Hall Hospital and Black Country Fast Aid.

Bert Bissell, born 1902, was a mountain climber and peace campaigner who climbed Ben Nevis on the day that Japan surrendered in World War II in 1945. He repeated the expedition annually after that, a tradition he continued for an incredible 50 years, right until he was 91.

Ian Austin MP, said:
